Alastair Marr has been a member of the choir since 1987, just over 35 years. This momentous length of service was marked by his being awarded Honorary membership of the choir. Alastair has always sung in the Baritone section but in common with many choristers has given of his time and energy by serving on the choir committee.
In the 1980s Alastair forged strong relationships with members of the Frohsinn 1867 Male Choir (Heiligenhaus), Mansfield’s twin town in Germany, with whom the choir had many exchange visits.
Alastair has always been keen to support new members, get involved with concerts and social events and has made a significant contribution to the life and continuance of our choir. We are proud to award him this accolade and wish Alastair and his wife Wendy the very best.
