Normal end-of- term choir practice was turned into a surprise concert by Mansfield & District Male Voice Choir last Tuesday evening.
Meryl has decided, after 14 years’ service, to hand over the reins to Ian Grice who will take over as Acting Musical Director.
Meryl was presented with a bouquet of flowers, a financial gift and a framed photograph of the Choir at the concert in recognition of her fantastic contribution.
“The greatest compliment from our audience is when they say that they have been uplifted and inspired by our music” said Meryl “The Choir is in good, capable and very talented hands and I am sure that it will go on to even greater things.”
Margaret is to remain as musical accompanist.
It has always been a pleasure to work with Meryl, a true legend!
I’d like her to know that we, the Edmund Octet, (12 members of St Edmundsbury MVC!), always sing her composition “The Kings” every Christmas at our own concerts and events. At rehearsals we often refer to it as “Meryl’s Kings”
I wish her every happiness for her retirement.

Thank you for your comments. I will make sure Meryl knows that The Kings is being sung as she would wish.
It is really popular with our audiences.
